Newsletter February 2012
Driving Instructors Association

Dear member

The DIA’s Spring Seminar and AGM, for 2012, will be held at the Sedgley Park Centre, Prestwich, Manchester M25 OJT.

Our poster (the one with the spring onion), which many of you have seen in your local test centres, seems to be working, because the event is filling up quickly, so be sure to book your place soon to avoid disappointment.

Our guest speakers certainly know their onions, too: we are delighted to confirm that DSA’s registrar, Charles Morton, and Dr Lisa Dorn from Cranfield University will be speaking at the event.

Charles Morton will present his annual registrar’s update and provide an overview of the DSA’s progress in modernising the driver training industry.

Dr Lisa Dorn, an expert in driver psychology, leads a team of psychologists at Cranfield University. She will provide delegates with an insight into this fast-developing field of driver education.

During the day you will be able to find out more about our CDP programme with DIAmond’s chief examiner, Mike Frisby, and there will be opportunities to put your questions to our invited guest speakers. You will also be able to discuss any DIA membership issues with our instructor helpdesk.

This year promises to include some interesting developments for the driver training industry, so we will be looking ahead at the implications for our members and listening to your views on the proposed changes.

The DIA shop will be open for business and will have a comprehensive range of resource material in our shop, along with a range of Spring Seminar special offers.

Tickets are priced at an inflation-busting £47.50, exactly the same as last year. Additionally, we have a special offer where you can book five places and get a sixth for free. The price includes tea/coffee and pastries on arrival, a hot lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

So make Monday 26 March a date in your diary. We look forward to seeing you there.
