25 Low Cost Advertising Tips
"Stopping advertising to save money, is like stopping your watch to save time." - Anonymous
In good economic times, businesses want to advertise. In hard economic times, they have to. Simply put, good advertising builds business and makes money. If you are not in business to achieve these two things, then you are not in business.
Easier said than done, right? How can a small business like mine budget for advertising in such hard economic times?

Now Think About This
Many times have I been in front of a client with minimal marketing budget, who wants to do a 6 month radio campaign, with $1,000. Some account executives would take that money and run. Any good account executive knows that the resulting campaign of 2 x 30 second commercials weekly, over 6 months, is a waste of everyone's time and money.
I am all about building relationships. In whatever the campaign at hand, I need to make sure this will work for our client, and their marketing objectives will be achieved. It is in both our best interests. My client ends up being ecstatic from their ROI, and I get more business. I would much rather correctly advise a client to spend their $1,000 on a more effective medium with someone else, than incorrectly advise them to spend the money with me.
Tip 27: In the event you don't have "any good executive" in front of you, the onus is on you to ensure you are giving your advertising medium of choice a fair shake in achieving your marketing objectives. Start with strong customized creative, and then really think about how you will target your audience. Ask yourself if you have enough budget to target them effectively within that medium. If the answer is no, choose another medium, or spend it on a nice weekend with your family and recharge.
Creative of the Month
There has been a major trend of custom music and songs in commercials recently, from McDonald's to Old Navy, Sunlife Insurance to Taco Bell. A company's message is very hard to ignore, when you are captivated by the song in which the message is placed.
