The Crucible wants to help you get ready for Burning Man,
and we're making it easy and fun for you to address
those last minute playa needs.

 

Need a Burning Man Ticket?
We will be raffling off TWO BURNING MAN TICKETS during the Fireside Lounge, courtesy of Harley Dubois. Raffle tickets will be on sale from 6:30-8:30pm with the drawing at 9pm. Winners MUST be present to win, $5 a ticket, no limit on tickets.

Bring your not-yet-spectacular playa hats, coats, skirts, dresses or boots! We'll help you with ideas from our Textiles and Kinetics department on how to embellish your playa fancies.

Cool Neon will be on hand to sell and explain their electroluminescent wire and you can pick some up to add to your costumes and bikes. Don't have a bike? Check out our Hot Wheels program, they will have playa bikes for sale here at The Crucible.

Explore our kinetics department with our art gallery filled with art that moves, dances, blinks, beeps, and even makes cocktails.

We will have tried and true fashion experts, vending from Tamo Design, Miss Velvet Cream, Miranda Caroligne, SilverLucy Design, SuperSugarRayRay, By Nieves, Miss G Designs and more.

While you are shopping and crafting check out the daring dances from our Fire Performance department accented by large bursts of fire from our Crucible custom made stage poofers.

DJ Zach Moore of the Space Cowboys will be spinning to warm you up for the music of Burning Man with all of your playa favorite dance tracks.

Barbara Traub will be signing copies of her book "Desert to Dream: A Decade of Burning Man Photography."

Guests can also check out the Hot Wheels Department’s display of bicycles, which includes bicycles guests can purchase for use on the playa. Completed art bikes from young resident artists will also be on display.

Several of these young artists learned bike-building skills to prepare them for the Black Rock Arts Foundation (BRAF) Bike Bridge project. They will be on hand to tell guests more about the community Bike Bridge project.

Discounts on Crucible class tuition will be available to attendees who register at the event. New students will receive 20% off class tuition and Crucible members will receive 25% off class tuition. In addition, guests can put their $10 cover charge towards the cost of the class. A door prize raffle will offer attendees a chance to winning free tuition on a Crucible class as well. All ages are welcome. There is a $10 cover at the door and Crucible members are free.

Parking
There is some street parking on 7th and 5th street. There are also two paid parking lots that will be staffed. One is on Kirkham Avenue and the other is the 5th Street lot by BART. Please do not park in lots owned by local businesses or the residential area behind The Crucible (8th street); your car may be towed.

Public Transit
Ditch the car and don't worry about parking - The Crucible is easily accessible by BART! From the West Oakland BART Station, exit onto 7th Street, turn right and walk 2 blocks east to Union (at the 2nd light). The Crucible is on the northwest corner of 7th & Union, at 1260 7th Street.
