City Events and Important Information
Tree Recycling
Don’t send your Christmas tree to the landfill- Treecycle it! Have your tree turned into wood chips and mulch to be used in local parks and gardens. A $5 donation is suggested to cover costs. All decorations must be removed. No early drop-offs please. The City of Philadelphia does not recycle trees left at the curb. Trees can be brought to any of the following two locations:
Columbus Square Park
13th & Reed
Saturday, January 7, 10 am to 4 pm
Marconi Plaza
Bigler St. side of the park, West of Broad
Saturday, January 7, 1 to 4 pm
West Passyunk Project and Fundraiser
Date: Wednesday, February 29th
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Place:South Philadelphia Taproom, 1509 Mifflin
Donation: $50.00, includes food and drink
The West Passyunk Ave Project plan includes many bumped out curbs that will assist in easier street crossing, along with more green space that will improve the look of West Passyunk Ave. A selection of seasonal craft beers, wine, and the Tap Room's delicious menu will be provided. The requested donation is $50 per person. For a donations of $250 or more, donors will be offered admission to the Feb 29th Fundraiser, as well as dinner, drinks, and dessert for two to be used at another time at the South Philadelphia Tap Room. The benefit will help raise money for the landscape improvements that will include adding trees, planters, and a watering system to street islands on West Passyunk Ave between S. Restaurant Week
Center City District Restaurant Week will be January 22-27 & January 29-February 3, 2012. Participating restaurants offer three-course dinners for only $35 per person.
