Reaching the Roma

Although some 15 million Roma (historically mislabeled as Gypsies) live in Europe today, few evangelical missionaries work among them. Since their arrival in Europe more than a thousand years ago, the unreached Roma population has been characterized by enslavement, persecution and banishment. However, TWR is working to share Christ’s love with this special people group, and now you can help too.

Discover how a partnership between TWR and Galcom International is changing lives among the Roma people, and read the powerful, true story of Nadire, a Roma woman from Albania. Also, be sure to listen to a sample of authentic Roma music (and consider our exclusive CD available for a small gift), and read inspiring Roma listener responses

Visit our homepage to see how God is using TWR so that lasting fruit is produced.

A Letter to TWR-Russia

Dear TWR,

My name is Alexander. I am 28 years old and live in the city of Chernigov, Ukraine. I am married and work at a social insurance company. I found God in 2007 and was very surprised when I came across your radio station on the Internet. I love the programs where Vladimir Sorokin reads the Thru the Bible lectures.  I also listen to your other programs. How wonderful it would be if I could tear my relatives away from the TV and make them listen to you! I would love to regularly receive information about your programs. God brought me to you and blessed me with your radio station, and I thank Him for that. It is through the programs that I learn what is good and what I should not do. I can now stand in the face of temptation.

Your constant listener,

Alexander Doroshenko

Member Care Radio Celebrates Ten Years in Ministry

Here’s a letter from the director of one of TWR’s key broadcasts, Memcare by Radio, about their growing ministry:

Ten years ago, MemCare produced two radio programs a week; now we have seven programs a week. Additionally, MemCare has expanded from radio to the Internet in order to reach more cross cultural workers in their place of calling. Our Web site has over 250 programs that have been archived over the past four years and is growing every week. You can now hear the daily radio programs at your desk!

As we celebrate 10 years of ministry, we want to thank you for your support, prayers and interest in what we have been doing. We still need your help in getting the word out! Please visit us on the Web at www.membercareradio.com.

A Legacy of Sorrow: TWR in Rwanda

Fifteen years after the genocide that stunned the world, Trans World Radio is broadcasting messages of love and forgiveness to a country still scarred by its brutal past.

Rwanda has a long history of violence and ethnic tension, but the events of April 1994 stand out as particularly horrific. Last month marked the 15th anniversary of the genocide in which 800,000 people were killed over a period of 100 days. Most of the dead were Tutsis, but some moderate Hutus were also killed.  The new government declared a week of national mourning and the global community began a mass remembrance campaign that will last 100 days.

Radio is the primary source of information for most Rwandans and it played an unfortunate part in the genocide. It is fitting then that through Trans World Radio, Rwandans can hear messages of hope and forgiveness on the radio.

Some of the programs broadcast are Thru the Bible, a systematic journey through the books of the Bible; Perspectives Reformees (Perspective Reformers), Foi et Vie Reformees (Faith and Life Reformers) and Vive La Verite (Viva the Truth). Please pray that the people of Rwanda will find true peace and healing through Jesus Christ.
