Beta Testing Stipends and Giant Maps Sent Out 2009 Season Winding Down! I hope this message finds you well! We recently released several of our last items for the season, including the Super Quiz Screenplay, the Impromptu Topics (updated for 2009), and the Mixed Relays. Our giant curriculum map of the French Revolution also shipped, at last! You can see a preview of the giant map to the right, guest starring the DemiPuppy for scale.
Also, thanks to Akhil's work calculating the numbers, we were able to mail out the beta test stipends this week. If you do not receive yours within a week or so, please email rosie@demidec.com. Make sure you have already sent her your address.
Other quick updates: If you're looking for a little something sweet and upbeat, check out Vicky's first film, a two minute animation titled Pickup Lines. You can click this link or view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z626mOOPEIg
The Academic Decathlon online scrimmage remains open for registration at www.funnelbrain.com, as does access to the DemiDec flashcards there (free this season to all DemiDec flashcard subscribers). I'm happy to report that the World Scholar's Cup preview video has now had over 1100 views, with new teams recently joining the program from Iraq and Kuwait. We have also had sites volunteer to host our first regional tournaments in Australia and the United Kingdom, and the World Finals are scheduled for Shanghai next June 18-20. I encourage you to consider taking part in the program after the Academic Decathlon season is over; participation is essentially free (with the exception of travel costs).
Best to everyone, Daniel --- Daniel Berdichevsky Board President The World Scholar's Cup www.scholarscup.org |
