Blissful Bites: Vegan Meals That Nourish Mind, Body, and Planet is the Blissful Chef Christy Morgan's first full-length cookbook. Christy is already wellknown for her blog and online presence. The cookbook uses healthy, whole food ingredients to create mouth-watering recipes that are fairly simple to prepare. The book may be ordered directly from her website, and it costs $18 with free shipping to the US.


Big Vegan is the third cookbook by Robin Asbell. The book includes tips, techniques and ideas on how to bring more flavor to plant-based dishes. Robin shares more than 350 vegan recipes covering breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. The book also contains a resources guide and glossary for easy reference. Robin says the book will satisfy everyone from the dedicated vegan to the content omnivore.


Detroit-area TV host and blogger Elizabeth Katzman launched a new shoe collection for women. All of her fashionably designed shoes are vegan, eco-friendly and cruelty-free. They are made with recycled materials in the United States. From flip-flops with a message to black high heels, Elizabeth's entire collection can be found on her website.


Chicago's VeganMania is back for another year of great food, talented musical acts and vendors showing off their vegan products and services. There will also be cooking demonstrations and inspiring talks be well known vegan speakers. The event is November 5, 2011 from 10 am to 5 pm at Pulaski Park Fieldhouse in Chicago.

In order to cope, I have quite a few faux-leather items in my closet, from a pair of cherished combat boots to bags and jackets.
