Help for Speakers Tip of the Week
"The trouble with talking too fast is you may say something you haven't thought of yet."  Anne Landers

Introverts can be great speakers too

People often think that to be good at public speaking you have to be extroverted, but it's not true.

Extroverts do tend to find it easier to draw energy from a crowd, rather than be drained by it, but Introverts have their own strengths to draw upon.

When I was training to be a lawyer I was told that Introverts make great barristers.  When you're a barrister you should never ask a question in cross examination that you don't know the answer to.  And Introverts tend to think about what they say, before they say it.

Whereas,(to generalise) extroverts tend to discover what they think by talking about it.

As Anne Landers says "The trouble with talking too fast is you may say something you haven't thought of yet."

So if you are an introvert, take heart!  You can be a great public speaker too - each personality type has different strengths to draw on.
