Manchester Community Schools
E-Newsletter: June 30, 2010

A recently released “Top to Bottom” ranking of public schools in Michigan provides strong independent evidence of the success being achieved by the Manchester Community School District.

Released last week by the Michigan Department of Education, the new ranking system provides parents and students a new tool for evaluating schools.   "We wanted to show communities how their schools measure up with other schools across the state," state Superintendent Mike Flanagan said.  The "Top to Bottom" ranking of public schools in Michigan is based on student achievement data from 2007-09 in math and English language arts and academic growth.

Commenting on the rankings, Shawn Lewis-Lakin, superintendent for the Manchester Community School District noted that “at each level - elementary, middle, and high school - the rankings show that the Manchester Community School District is among the highest achieving school districts, not only in our area, but in the state.

“This recognition honors the hard work of students, families, staff members, and indeed, the entire Manchester community that provides tremendous support for our schools.    These rankings confirm that the Manchester community and its schools are a great choice for families. “
