Sponsorships available - Limited display space Drew Hastings is a renowned comedian and a frequent guest of The Bob and Tom Radio Show. His acting talent has landed him a number of guest-starring roles, and he has done television pilots for some of the big networks including Fox, NBC, and HBO. He has also made many stand-up appearances on television and is one of a very elite group of comedians to have received a standing ovation on “The Tonight Show.” Michelle Desiderio leads the NAHB Research Center’s national green building program based on the ANSI-approved National Green Building Standard™ (ICC 700-2008). The program includes training and accreditation of Green Verifiers and certification of single family, multi-family, renovations, additions, and land development. As a related service to product manufacturers, the Green Approved Products program pre-approves certification points for products that meet green building practices. Michelle’s housing experience spans environmental, land use, and financing issues. At the National Association of Home Builders she developed innovative policy solutions to protect the environment while protecting housing affordability. Michelle transitioned to Fannie Mae to develop the Housing and Environment Initiative which promoted housing affordability through energy and location efficient homes. At Fannie Mae, Michelle developed the Smart Commute Mortgage and revamped the Energy Efficient Mortgage. In addition, she developed a patent-winning methodology to calculate the emission reductions from energy efficient homes so the reductions could be sold as energy credits on emerging carbon markets.
As the Program Manager of Energy Efficiency at the NAHB Research Center, Amber Wood oversees engineering research projects focusing on the energy performance of residential construction. She is primarily involved with the NAHB Research Center's DOE Building America team to develop energy solutions for new and existing homes. Amber's energy work at the Research Center has included analyzing the feasibility of new building technologies, conducting field investigations on installation and building monitoring, and constructing models and simulations to benchmark building energy performance. In addition, she authored multiple research reports and guides for builders as well as presented the research findings. Although her primary focus is energy efficiency, she has also been involved in green building through the National Green Building ANSI Standard Development. She was the staff liaison for the Energy Task group working on the National Green Building Standard. Ms. Wood continues to connect energy and green building in her work as builder and consumer interest increases. Prior to joining the NAHB Research Center in 2006, Ms. Wood worked as a design engineer and field manager in land development and as a research assistant and intern at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. She holds a master’s degree in engineering systems from the Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science degree in civil and mechanical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
