In Mombasa, Kenya last month I asked Pastor Philip what he liked about the mobile phone pastors' training course he just completed. This is what he said.
"I thank God for having access to mobile learning. I benefitted a lot in that I, being a pastor, had not gone to any theological college because of family commitments. I remember I tried to join one, but because of financial problems I couldn’t actually proceed.

(near Mombasa)
"It was as if my dream of studying the word of God had come to an end. But thank God and also for the brothers who came with this idea. ...There was a time when I thought that maybe God had not called me. But listening to the teaching I really learned that, oh, God called me and has a purpose!"
Not only is Pastor Philip better equipped to lead his church, but the study time re-assured him of God's call and purpose for his life.
The group of pastors in Mombasa provided the most helpful feedback information for us. This was good because they fit the profile of those we want to reach with this approach to training.

Now that two class cycles have completed, our seminary in Nairobi is in a position to continue developing new courses and training pastors on their own. My direct involvement from the US will decline as I look to help some of our other seminaries around the world get started along this road. Campus Crusade's plan to train 2,000 pastors in 2012 is on a slightly different track than our seminary in Nairobi, and I will continue to be involved with that project for now.
Recently one of our US-based ministries indicated a need for training their volunteers. We met with them, and it looked like a mobile phone solution would be ideal. So, along with our mobile phone application developers, we are creating a modified version of our mobile phone seminary training application to meet their needs. Our goal is to finish a prototype by the time our staff conference begins next month. Pray we can get something working by then.
Thank you for consistently praying for us and this ministry we have together. God is building his kingdom through your prayers!
Love in Christ,

Praise God for the good feedback we got from the students in Mombasa and Nairobi and that the classes ended well.
Pray for our planning meeting later this month. Several of us involved with this project will write a detailed plan for reaching 2,000 pastors in 2012 who need this training. This meeting is an answer to your prayers over the last couple months.
Pray that we could launch another mobile phone learning project in another area of the world. Some possibilities are developing.
Pray for we could meet our tight development deadline for this new US-based training application.
