PLEASE REMEMBER THAT CoIS is PAPERLESS THIS YEAR!
NO SCHOOL Friday, February 18, or Monday February 21.
Thank you!
Thank you to Ben Rosales for spreading sand-salt mixture and clearing out the sheet of ice by our front door last week when the world was frozen! And thank you to Ruth Rosales for taking care of buying more salt to combat future front-door glaciers!
Thank you to our plumber and dad, Ruben Patiño, for arriving so promptly and fixing our drainage system last week when we had a plumbing emergency! And a special thank-you to all the parents who came so quickly to pick up your own students, as well as your child’s friends in some cases, when we needed to close early. The staff very much appreciated the CoIS spirit evidenced by the way everyone pulled together to respond to the situation. Thanks to the entire CoIS community for your help!
Valentine Candy-Grams
This year’s Candy-Gram project was a great success! The 5th and 7th grade students sold Candy-Grams to raise money toward a new microscope in the science room. Over 200 Candy-Grams were distributed on Monday, February 14th. Thank you to all parents, students, and friends who supported the Candy-Gram project with your participation!
Chinese New Year Lantern/Riddle Festival
CoIs celebrated the end the Chinese New Year celebration at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 17th with the Lantern/Riddle Festival. Students participated by answering riddles in all of our program languages and had a great time! Our thanks to Ms. Jie and Ms. Lu for all their work in coordinating this event and for decorating the room with beautiful lanterns!

CoIS follows the Denver Public School calendar as well as its procedures for closing due to weather conditions. If Denver Public Schools are on a delay, so is CoIS. Parents may be needed to help should teachers coming from a distance not be able to get here safely. If the Denver Public Schools are closed, CoIS is closed. Check the 9News website and our own website for closing information.

Policy Reminder: The pick-up time for preschool and Kindergarten students begins at 3:45 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. If your child is at CoIS after 4:00 p.m., s/he will be automatically enrolled in the Enrichment Program and you will pay the $15/hour drop-in rate for that class. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe, supervised environment for your child and in ensuring that the time allocated to staff members for planning is not used up in supervising students whose parents are late.

If you have not signed your 2011-12 contract with Ms. Peggy, you are not enrolled in CoIS for the 2011-12 school year. If you plan for your students to return to CoIS next year, schedule your contract-signing meeting with Ms. Peggy today. Open enrollment is now taking place, and we are now accepting students from outside the school to fill the open slots in our classrooms on a first-come, first-served basis.
