April 8, 2010:

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) has prepared a staff paper regarding IAS 37 Provisions, Contingent Liabilities and Contingent Assets, the purpose of which is to explain how the recognition criteria would apply to liabilities arising from lawsuits. Its purpose is to help people understand the recognition criteria before they comment on the revised measurement proposals in the Exposure Draft Measurement of Liabilities in IAS 37.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed rules that would revise the disclosure, reporting and offering process for asset-backed securities (ABS) to better protect investors in the securitization market. Public comments on the proposed rules should be received by the Commission within 90 days after its publication in the Federal Register.
