TAXING Matters?
An old computer saying is "Garbage In, Garbage Out". TurboTax may seem to be a cheap way to complete your taxes, but it can't ADVISE you the way a professional accountant can. Tax pros like Ken and Ralph at M&M Accounting in Wheaton know WHAT questions to ask, WHERE all the numbers go, HOW to legally minimize your taxes, and they’ll even electronically file them for you.
Even if you've already filed your return, bring it in to Ken and Ralph anyway (AFTER April 15th please!), as an amended return can still be filed to reduce your taxes or increase your refund. M&M Accounting promises that if they can't save you $$$, their services are FREE. You'll find M&M Accounting in Wheaton at 1129 Wheaton Oaks Ct, 60187. Call 630-665-7877 or email "Ken@TaxPro-IL.com" or "Ralph@TaxPro-IL.com".
Make sure you COUNT
Don't forget to return those US Census forms! The Census Bureau expects to count over 309 MILLION Americans in 2010. NOTE: The Census Bureau does not use the internet or email for census purposes, but SCAMMERS do. There are only 10 questions per person on the 2010 census forms, and you are NEVER asked for complete social security numbers, PIN numbers, income, or home value. More details at http://www.census.gov/
DID YOU KNOW that the population of the USA increased 50% between Pearl Harbor and the first Moon Landing (134-203 million)? And ANOTHER 50% from the Moon Landings to today (203-309 million)? Today's population is almost TEN TIMES (9.8x to be exact) what it was at the beginning of the Civil War? Just for the record: Revolutionary War (Jul 1776) 3.5 million, Civil War (Apr 1860) 31.5 million, World War I (Apr 1917) 103 million, Pearl Harbor (Dec 1941) 134 million, Moon Landings (Jul 1969) 203 million, 9-11 (Sep 2001) 278 million, and today (Apr 2010), 309 million. Comcast: EVOLVING your Security software
I still believe that the BEST security software doesn't expire, but Comcast is trying to make the best even better for you. In January, Comcast began a switchover from McAfee Internet Security to Norton 360 v3 Internet Security. As of April 2nd, Comcast began offering Norton Internet Security version FOUR (the latest and greatest), free to all residential and business clients. If you haven't yet switched your Comcast from McAfee, the process is STILL easy, and includes uninstalling McAfee. The Norton software includes extras not found in AT&T's McAfee, such as Anti-Spam filtering for users of Microsoft Outlook. Residential users should go to Comcast's security website (http://security.comcast.net/); Business users should go to http://businessclass.comcast.net, and use your Comcast email address and password for download authorization. If you need help, residential users should call 1-800-COMCAST; Business Class users call 1-800-391-3000.
CHANGE to independent Email
Changing over from one ISP (internet service provider, such as AT&T or Comcast) to another usually means leaving the vendor's email address behind. And a new vendor's email address domain (such as “@comcast.net” or @att.net) may also be left behind in the future due to yet another ISP change. So go ahead and switch NOW to free Google GMAIL accounts. Your new GMAIL account can be configured to pull in your existing ISP email until such time as that address is no longer valid. http://www.gmail.com
And, GMAIL can be setup to pull in email from multiple email accounts, so it’s the perfect basis to go with, even if in the future you add your own website and email domain name. So, map out which email addresses you are using now, and plan for ONE conversion, which will last forever. PS - Did I mention that free GMAIL accounts have excellent virus/spam filtering, and come with almost 8GB of inbox space? That's like over 5,000 floppy disks full of data!
Printing GIBBERISH ?
If you’re getting gibberish when printing certain web pages to a laser printer, the problem is that the web page content providers have changed to a font which the laser printer doesn’t have built-in. The solution is to go into the Printer folder, right-click on the printer, and left-click Printer Preferences. The FONT setting may be on an 'Advanced' tab (varies from manufacturer to manufacturer). Anyway, change the Font default of using resident fonts, to always downloading the font info along with the web page content.
