Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Remind me: what is SCRL?
SCRL is a network of community groups, charities and social enterprises which are all actively working to reduce waste and increase recycling across Shropshire.
My group isn't all about recycling, will I still benefit?
Yes. You should definitely come.
Almost all of our network members would probably say they are not waste or recycling groups. We link together a wide range of organisations working in arts, housing, training and other sectors.
What links those groups is that, as part of our work, we look at how we can minimise and re-use waste.
What is a network meeting?
SCRL organises get togethers for the community recycling network four times per year. Shropshire is a big place so journey times are always long and network members are incredibly busy. We work hard to make sure each meeting is as useful as possible.
Many network members find that it is incredibly valuable to spend a couple of hours with people who really understand the pressures and challenges of delivering recycling and waste reduction projects in Shropshire. It's a chance to kick-start new projects, reinvigorate existing schemes and just find out what everyone else is up to.
It isn't about company business. We have a board to handle that.
My group is very small is it worth me coming?
Yes. We try to make sure that the meetings are really worthwhile. Whether you benefit from being inspired, learning about a new funding stream or kick-starting a new project idea; we are sure you will benefit.
I already attend some other environmental meetings, what is different about SCRL?
This is an area where you can help us.
We recognise that there is an overlap between a number of networks in Shropshire, including ours, and we'd like to see if there are ways we can work together more efficiently. If you are involved in one or more of these overlapping networks, please come and help us sort this out.
I haven't paid any subs to SCRL. Can I still come?
Yes you can.
It is free to join the Shropshire Community Recycling Network and free to attend the network meetings.
Will there be lunch?
Yes. There will be a sandwich buffet lunch following the meeting.
If you have any questions, want to confirm your attendance or want to give apologies please contact Rosemary Collie, Network Co-ordinator.
