Hi <<First Name>>,
I know it's not supposed to be "politically correct" these days, but sometimes I just need to get in my car and drive. This weekend I headed up into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, home to nine national forests and three national parks. It's a pretty spectacular place.
I drove up to Mineral King National Park, accessible by a road so steep and narrow that often there's not enough room for two cars to pass each other. Because the road wraps around the mountain, literally hugging its side, I often had no idea what was coming around the corner. I had to trust the road continued and there would be enough room for my car to continue.
Then I reached the top. I got to the end of the road. There before me was a scene of incredible beauty. Snow-capped mountains and lush meadows spread out in a tableau more beautiful than any postcard could ever capture. Only the rushing waters of a creek and the song of birds broke the deep stillness. What if I had decided it was too much trouble to finish the journey? I would have missed an amazing afternoon.
The road often seems uncomfortable, filled with potholes and narrow misses. Sometimes the payoff just doesn't seem to be worth the trip. But hang in there. The view from the top is amazing, and there's something up there that can't be found anywhere else.

Rob Reiner Has Flipped
by Angela Walker
If you passed him on the street, you might mistake Rob Reiner for any other 63-year-old man. He's genuine, comfortable in his own skin and pleasant to be around, easy to talk with. The films he makes are very personal choices. They're stories he wants to tell, not the result of calculated decisions for box office payoffs. John Mahoney (Frasier), who plays the patriarch of the Baker family in Reiner's latest movie Flipped, credits Reiner with having the ability to make ordinary people interesting... Read more

Dove Review: Standing Firm
Dove Family-Approved
Review: This is a powerful story of one man's struggle in his life and his journey to find the power of faith through God's love after his wife's death. Dave not only walks away from the church and God but also adds to the frustration of his son Steven as he watches his father's actions.
The film displays how we cannot fix others around us when it comes to faith, and that each person can only make decisions for themselves when it comes to their beliefs in God. When someone falls by the wayside, the only thing a person can do is pray and trust that God will help that person through their struggles. It is a moving story about faith, love and the power of prayer along with the knowledge that God has a plan for us even though we don't always understand why things happen the way they do.
