Why I Love Mondays  

Rosemary Mac Cabe is chief fashion blogger at Fash Mob, irishtimes.com's fashion blog, where she has been cracking the whip since January 2010. She's also a journalist and stylist, and does regular work for print, TV and radio.
Irishtimes.com is the online site of The Irish Times and is primarily a news site, but also hosts blogs (such as Fash Mob), podcasts and the occasional liveblog.
Job description: Being a fashion blogger has its obvious perks (being invited to exclusive events, the occasional gift) but it also has its not-so-obvious disadvantages, namely the pressure to always look like a fashion blogger – all crazy hats and nerd glasses. Read more...

2011 Irish Web Awards around the corner 

There’s less than two weeks to go now until the winners of The Irish Web Awards 2011 are announced.
With so many various awards on every year in the digital/web sphere it’s hard to keep track of who’s who and what’s what. How the Irish Web Awards differs from other awards are affordable tickets, no dress code, a two hour ceremony followed by finger food. And that’s in the Mansion House if your don’t mind. New platform for student media hopefuls 

A newly-launched website aimed at students is offering to also become a platform for those interested in forging a career in the media industry.
Studenty.me is on the lookout for writers, podcasters, ‘youtubers’, musicians, artists, writers, film-makers and ‘anyone with talent who wants a national platform for their work albeit unpaid’. Read more...

Giving copywriters a chance to air their skills

Training and events for copywriters may be few and far between but Dublin-based copywriter Lizzie Sherwood-Smith is making sure to keep copywriters up to speed with regular training sessions.
Sherwood-Smith last year organised the ‘Righter Writing’ workshop for copywriters through her company BizWiz. This autumn she brings the expertise of advertising head Patrick Collister and copywriter Catherine Donnelly to the ‘Making Waves’ workshop. Collister who now works with clients to improve their creative output spent seven years as executive creative director at Ogilvy & Mather and has won Gold at Cannes. Read more...

Winter of content for online tv in Ireland 

Just as the country is settling in for the winter, with autumn/winter tv schedules and general hibernation there’s a lot happening in the online television sphere in Ireland.
TV3 has just launched a new online player. 3player was developed especially to allow viewers watch on multiple devices such as PCs or laptops, tablets (including iPad) and smartphones (including iPhone). Read more..
