General Announcements:
- Tuesday, November 3, is Election Day. The College will provide transportation to the two voting polls (Arthur May Elementary School and the Poughkeepsie Town Hall) where Vassar students who are registered in New York State will vote. A van will leave from Main Circle every half hour starting at 12:00pm and ending at 8:00pm. The van will stop long enough at each location for students to vote and then will return to campus. - Presented by the Environmental Consortium of Hudson Valley Colleges & Universities, the two-day conference, “Teaching and Learning the Hudson Valley: Building Capacity for Place-Based Education,” will be held at Vassar on November 13 - 14. Keynote speakers will include Peter G. Brown from McGill University; Congressman Maurice Hinchey from New York's 22nd Congressional District; and John Cronin, the director and chief executive officer of the Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries. Election Day Transportation to Polls Main Building, Main Circle 12:00 - 8:00pm
The College provides transportation to and from the two voting polls where Vassar students who are registered in New York State vote. Writer-director Ramin Bahrani's latest film, "Goodbye Solo" was awarded the Venice Film Festival’s prestigious FIPRESCI International Critics Prize. "New York Times" critic A. O. Alumna Eleanor Garrell Berger '64 is the author of "Stepping Out, A Tenderfoot’s Guide to the Principals, Practices and Pleasures of Countryside Walking," a detailed travelogue based on Berger’s own experiences in walking more than 1000 miles of pathways. She shares her passion for writing and an insider perspective of walking outdoors in this special Bookstore Author Series prestentation. Half Moon Theatre Company presents "Emerson High," a new play by Jim Knable, directed by Jeremy Dobrish, a regular at Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater and former artistic director of adobe theatre company. An outstanding cast of experienced actors perform this new work about what happens when a 16-year-old girl and her high school band teacher fall in love. Is it love? A crime? Does love trump a wrong? This new play examines the complexities of human relationships and how we each arrive at our version of what is moral.
