BALL SUPPORTS ODELL'S INTRODUCTION OF SPENDING CAP LEGISLATION FOR PUTNAM COUNTY RESIDENTS

In a Press Conference on Friday outside the Historic Putnam County Courthouse, Assemblyman Greg Ball (R, C, I - Patterson) and Putnam County Legislator MaryEllen Odell (R, I - Carmel) will announce new legislation that will cap annual spending increases in Putnam County at 2.5 percent. The groundbreaking legislation is modeled on statewide bills that Ball has spearheaded during his 4 years in Albany.

Odell will introduce the legislation to the Putnam County Legislature at their August 3 meeting.

"Working people, who work for a living and play by the rules, can barely hold on to their homes and are struggling to pay their property taxes while county spending continues to grow unchecked," Ball said. "Two years ago, I held the nation's first Tea Party on the steps of this courthouse when the County Executive introduced a county budget that increased property taxes by over 60%. We successfully stopped that tax increase, and today with the introduction of this spending cap, we will ensure that the voters are represented in the budget process in Putnam County."

Ball will also unveil a new web site where his constituents, as well as other residents in Putnam, Westchester, and Dutchess Counties can sign a petition to their Legislators that demands they enact the spending cap.

Ball first introduced and continues to be the Prime Sponsor on bills that introduce a statewide Property Tax Cap and a Senior School Tax Freeze.
