Not So Funny GMO Joke of the Month
1. Reasons To Buy Organic Food
|
"Organically grown food is your best way of reducing exposure to toxins used in conventional agricultural practices. These toxins include not only pesticides, many of which have been federally classified as potential cancer-causing agents, but also heavy metals such as lead and mercury, and solvents like benzene and toluene. |
Minimizing exposure to these toxins is of major benefit to your health. Heavy metals damage nerve function, contributing to diseases such as multiple sclerosis, lower IQ, and also block hemoglobin production, causing anemia. Solvents damage white cells, lowering the immune system’s ability to resist infections."
Agricultural chemicals used in conventionally grown foods (which are used to kill bacteria, fungi, insects, weeds, rodents and other organisms) have also been shown to the harmful to mitochondria, the energy production factories of our cells.
Organically grown foods have been show to be significantly higher in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients which are essential for health: 27% more vitamin C, 29.3% more magnesium and 21.1% more iron. Deficiency of vitamin C, magnesium, iron and other vitamins and minerals (classified as essential nutrients because they are required by our bodies for health and normal functioning) can result in low energy, anxiety, fatigue, headaches, impaired wound healing, impaired immune function, increased frequency of colds and infections, elevated blood pressure, heart attacks - the #1 killer in the U.S., increased rates of cancer - the #2 killer in the U.S., and many other healthcare concerns.
