This week: Rob Walton

It hasn't taken ORU Baseball Coach, Rob Walton long to become one of the top college baseball coaches in the country. In just eight years, Walton has gone from renowned pitching guru, to respected and ultra-successful head coach. As he enters his eighth season, Walton's coaching philosophy remains the same. "You have to coach with a plan and a goal in mind," says Walton. "We have a plan in place which is geared toward helping us reach our ultimate goals: being a consistent Top-25 program and, most importantly, getting to Omaha."

Service Projects
2012 Bixby BBQ 'n' Blues

They're off and running! This week marks the start of the 2012 Bixby BBQ 'n' Blues season. This coming Thursday, January 12th will be our first committee meeting. Please mark your calendars for, February 2 & 23, March 29, April 2 & 26 and May 2 for future committee meetings. We will be meeting at Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd Street. All meetings will be from 6-7pm, so please be prompt so we can efficiently move through the agenda. Refreshments, snacks, and a pizza will be provided.

BBQ 'n' Blues Festival Kid's Zone Chair and Co-Chair
The Festival this year has a great opportunity for service. We have vacancies for Chair and Co-Chair of the Kid's Zone, which is one of the most popular and rewarding venues of the festival. Sherry Barbour has each section of the event organized, so that anyone taking over can use her plan and implement it with just a few changes or adjustments.  Sherry will be assisting Buster McCurtain this year as co-chair, therefore, the reason for the vacancy.  Our community looks forward to the Kid's Zone and the enjoyment it brings to the hundreds of kids each day of the event. Please contact Buster about volunteering for this leadership role. We need a chair by our first meeting this week, January 12th.

Rotary Board Meeting
This Wednesday, January 11th will be our first Rotary Board meeting of the year. This year, we will be meeting on the second Wednesday of each month. This change was made so that the Leadership Bixby Interns could attend our meetings. Whether you are a member of the board or simply a cub member, you are welcome to attend the meetings to help our club become even better in this new year.
