You need to build your own network of friends and fans who have a personal connection to you as well as your organization. The lessons here should be familar from the early days of grade school.
- Share everything—post articles, news stories, blog posts and more to your profile.
- Play nice with groups—embrace groups that form around your interests.
- Make new friends, but keep the old—accept all friend requests and use friend lists to control security.
- Try new things—form your own group, experiment with applications, try Facebook ads.
- Be well-rounded—mix your personal interests with your professional interests. Be real.
- Be a gracious tea party host—invite your Facebook friends to events you’re hosting.
