Are you Tracking the Most Important Events on your Website?

Event Tracking on Google AnalyticsWe know how to track the most important events of life.

What about tracking the most important events in the life of a website?

We all know about how a signup, a purchase or a viewed page can be viewed as a goal, but are you tracking the other important events on your website?

What if you have a whitepaper or another PDF and you want to know how many downloads there are.

What if you have a video or podcast on your website and you would like to know how many people played, paused and stopped the video.

Does your site have one of those contact forms that when the user clicks submit, it doesn't go to a "new" webpage, but simply posts a "thank you" message on the same page?

Also, what if you send people to another website? Wouldn't you like a sense of how many people clicked on that external website from your website.

If you have Google Analytics (GA), this is possible to implement through event tracking. GA had changed it tracking code to include page tracking so that now it is possible to track the "events" on a website.

Need to know if you have the tracking in place to track your events?
