Arkansas Food Bank & Actor Judge Reinhold
Team with Forest Park
Right now, in Arkansas, 1 out of 4 children doesn't know where her next meal is coming from. That's a shocking statistic that we can help change. The Arkansas Food Bank and Judge Reinhold, a spokesperson and volunteer, are leading a food drive at Forest Park. Have your kids bring non-perishable foods, such as peanut butter or canned meat, to school now through Friday. (Click for a list of requested foods.) No extra PB on hand? Cash donations are much appreciated. In fact, with the Food Bank's ability to buy in bulk, just $1 creates three meals for hungry families. Send your donation to school in an envelope marked PTA Safe. Make checks payable to Arkansas Food Bank.
Arkansas Food Bank is the largest non-government source of food aid for hungry people in Arkansas. It supplies food for 300 locations in 36 counties throughout the state. To learn more or to make contributions throughout the year, visit arkansasfoodbank.org or call 501.565.8121.
In addition to the food drive, some Forest Park kids will appear along with Judge in the Food Bank's public service announcements. These should air in coming months so stay tuned for more details.

Super Smart Spellers
All Forest Park students are great with words, but third-grader Henry Jackson is the best at spelling them. He won the school's spelling bee and will represent Forest Park at the Pulaski County Spelling Bee, February 7th, 2012.

Congratulations to all contestants who were the top spellers in their classes and grades: Jon Richard Sperry, Nora McGill, Ella Hubener, Reed Wilson, Lowrey West, Sydney Patterson, Joanne Liu, Corissa Ross, Olivia Spohn, Mason Rike, Jakob Shelby, Ann Rayburn, Erik Bruckman, Madeline Wood, Boyd Bethel, Avery Agar, Eva Allen.

Don't Toss Those Tabs
Remember to keep collecting tabs from cans or canned goods now through February. Having a holiday party? Don't toss those empty cans until you've snatched off the tab. Cooking for the whole family? Soup, broth and vegetable cans have tabs, too. The goal is for every child in Forest Park to have 100 tabs on the 100th day of school in February. But don't stop with 100; bring all you've got. Just be sure and label the bag with the accurate count. The tabs will be given to the Ronald McDonald House in Little Rock and recycled for money. The money supports families who stay at the House while their child is receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
Many kids have already collected more than 100. Keep up the good work! The class with the most tabs gets a party and, if Forest Park is the school with the most tabs, Ronald McDonald will thank the kids in person. Questions: contact Tiffany Lindsey at tiffany@charlottejohn.com.

Dear Volunteers,
We cannot thank you enough for taking time out of your busy holiday schedules to serve our school. Tiffany & John Lindsey, thank you for inviting our teachers and staff into your lovely home for lunch; Amanda Moore and her team of hospitality elves, your service and food prep for the lunch is much appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered this year. Your commitment and support help make Forest Park a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow.
Sincerely,
The Forest Park PTA
p.s. We promise not to ask for help again, at least not until next year.
